"Royal" Float Presented By Pageant "Royal Family"
The Credit Union Christmas Pageant, South Australias iconic family event, has started a new tradition with the launch of the first ever "Royal Family" Float today.
The float, which has been beautifully designed to reflect the spirit and culture of Australia, was graciously launched in the grounds of Government House by His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR, Governor of South Australia.
His Excellency, who has been a great supporter of the event and himself last year participated along with his wife, is looking forward to participating again in 2009.
"The Credit Union Pageant is a South Australian icon and I have no doubt that the "Royal Family" Float will become a firm family favourite over the coming years," says His Excellency.
Mr Peter Evers, Chairman of the Credit Union Pageant Company, is pleased with how well the appointment of a King to join the long standing Pageant Queen tradition had been received.
"The credit unions are proud to have male ambassadors sharing the limelight, so its only fitting that a beautifully crafted float is created to honour their special role in sharing the Pageant magic with families across the state," Mr Evers said.
Jill Halliday, who has a long running history with the event as the Pageants first female artist, designed the "Royal Family" Float, which celebrates an Australian outback theme.
"The artist has captured the essence of the colours and character of the Australian landscape, a quintessential symbol of our country which is only fitting for the first ever "Royal Family" Float," says Brian Gilbertson, Pageant Director.
The new "Royal Family" Float was designed to reflect the unique Australian environment in colours that are influenced by Australias stunning sunsets in pinks and purples and its golden sun and sandy beaches.
The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is owned and managed by the South Australian Tourism Commission on behalf of the South Australian Government and sponsored by six leading credit unions in South Australia - Savings & Loans, Australian Central, Community CPS Australia, Police, Powerstate, and Satisfac.
