Credit Union Christmas Pageant: FAST FACTS
The 2009 Credit Union Christmas Pageant is the biggest event ever with 63 floats and 15 bands plus nine walking sets, 10 dance groups, one DJ and three choirs.
> The first Pageant, in 1933, had just eight floats and four bands.
> This years event includes six brand new floats: Royal Family, Christmas in Toytown, Grandpas Christmas Workshop, Pandas, Christmas Stocking and the Robot Family.
> There will be more than 265 clowns in the parade.
> There are 3638 people involved on Pageant Day, with 2492 of this total number performing within the blue honour line.
> More than 320,000 spectators are expected to line Adelaides streets to watch the Credit Union Christmas Pageant.
> An attempt will be made again for the Guinness World Record for the worlds largest Mexican Wave and will take place at 9.10am.
> The theme for this years event is Families Sharing Memories.
> For the first time in the history of the event, a Pageant King and Princes have joined the Pageant Queen and Princesses for royal duties.
> It takes 15 trucks to transport costumes, bikes and props to Pulteney Grammar, the starting point of the Pageant.
> From the week after the Pageant until Christmas Eve, well over 3000 pieces of costume are washed, ironed and placed in plastic bags for storage ready for the next years event.
> More than 50 litres of washing liquid, 18 cans of starch, six bottles of bleach, 400 litres of distilled water are used to clean the costumes each year.
> The 2010 Credit Union Christmas Pageant will be held on Saturday 13 November 2010.
