The 2018 Credit Union Christmas Pageant has officially launched for the year, with the countdown officially on to the most magical day of the year!

All of the exciting new features of this year's Pageant have been revealed, including this year's Pageant theme, and two beautiful new floats!

Hon David Ridgway, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment officiated his first Credit Union Christmas Pageant event launch and was swept away by the joy that the new floats delivered to the delighted audience.

“The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is the traditional start to the festive season in South Australia, with more than 320,000 happy faces lining the 3.2-kilometre route annually,” said Minister Ridgway.

“If the initial reaction to seeing the new floats for the first time today is an indicator, we can expect the Credit Union Pageant Express and The Gingerbread House to be well received. We know the countdown is now on until Father Christmas arrives in South Australia and we invite everyone to line the streets to welcome him to town.”

Brian Gilbertson, Creative Director, Credit Union Christmas Pageant announced the theme for this year’s event would be ‘Shining a Light on Kindness’.

“It is important that we all remember to be kind to one another. This year the Pageant is going to remind the community to focus on the common thread of kindness. Random acts of Pageant kindness are on the agenda!”. Read more about this year's Pageant theme here.

“We are sure the Credit Union Pageant Express and The Gingerbread House will become firm favourites for our Pageant fans and we can’t wait to see the kids bring their smiles on the big day,” said Brian Gilbertson. You can find out more about the new floats here!

Robert Keogh, Chair, Credit Union Pageant Company said the credit unions were looking forward to a memorable event in 2018, knowing it will be a spectacular show to celebrate and say ‘thanks for the memories’ to the people of South Australia in our last year as naming rights partner.

“In one of the State’s most enduring corporate partnerships, People’s Choice Credit Union, Beyond Bank Australia, Credit Union SA and Police Credit Union will mark almost a quarter century of involvement in South Australia’s most iconic community event this year and we are all looking forward to once again spreading Pageant magic throughout the streets of Adelaide,” said Robert Keogh.

“Since 1996, in keeping with our strong community and family values, some 1000 people who work at or are associated with the credit unions have created magical moments and fond memories.” said Robert Keogh.

The 2018 Credit Union Christmas Pageant will be held on Saturday 10 November, departing from South Terrace at 9.30 am once Sir Edward Hayward’s legendary gold whistle is blown.
