The Credit Union Christmas Pageant team is celebrating after taking out a 2013 Creative Partnerships Australia Award presented at Government House.

The much-loved November event won the Toyota Community Award and was recognised for its contribution to South Australia.

Credit Union Christmas Pageant Creative Director Brian Gilbertson said the award was testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire event team and the unique nature of the partnership with the event’s naming rights sponsors, the credit unions.

“The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is special to all South Australians and we’re delighted the partnership between the event and its naming rights sponsor has led to us receiving the Toyota Community Award,” Mr Gilbertson said.

“In 2012 we celebrated 80 years of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant in South Australia and more than 350,000 people lined Adelaide’s city streets to watch the pageant unfold.

“We also marked this milestone with the Credit Union Christmas Pageant Trail along the North Terrace cultural precinct during the October school holidays, and more than 25,000 people enjoyed all it had to offer.

“It is the partnership of the State Government of South Australia and the Credit Union Pageant Company’s 20-year commitment to the event that has secured its ongoing success for all South Australians and visitors lucky enough to see it.”

A further 140,000 people watched the Credit Union Christmas Pageant live on television on November 9.

The Credit Union Christmas Pageant will now move on to contest a national Creative Partnerships Australia Award, with overall winners to be announced at a gala dinner in Canberra on November 18.

Credit Union Pageant Company Chair Peter Evers said the Toyota Community Award reflected South Australians’ generous support for the pageant.

“It’s a thrill to be a partner of an event that brings such joy to SA families each year. This award is recognition of how business and arts events can work together to positively enhance our communities” Mr Evers said.

“Plans are in full swing for the next Pageant and everyone is welcome to share the magic as floats, clowns, dancers, bands and hundreds of smiling performers return to create the happiest day of the year.”

The 2013 Credit Union Christmas Pageant will be held on Saturday, 9 November 2013.

The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is owned and managed by the South Australian Tourism Commission on behalf of the South Australian Government and sponsored by People’s Choice Credit Union, Beyond Bank Australia, Police Credit Union and Credit Union SA.
